About the role
Role Overview: You are an experienced and curious Advanced Specialist in Product Management joining the Platform team within English Language Learning (ELL). As an individual contributor, you will own meaningful parts of the product backlog, collaborate closely with engineering and design teams, and contribute to evolving the learning management system (LMS) catering to institutional and corporate customers globally. Your role requires solid B2B product management experience, a user-centric mindset, and technical fluency to effectively engage with engineers. Reporting directly to the Team Manager, Platform Product (ELL), you will play a pivotal role in driving product development and enhancing user experience. Key Responsibilities: - Champion Customer Needs: - Develop a deep understanding of institutional and corporate customer needs through research, data, and direct engagement. - Translate customer insights into clearly defined problems and prioritized opportunities. - Define and track relevant KPIs to measure the impact of product changes on customer experience. - Advocate for the user throughout the product development cycle. - Product Development and Backlog Management: - Define, refine, and prioritize product features and enhancements, considering customer value, business goals, and technical feasibility. - Write clear, concise user stories and acceptance criteria for engineering and design teams. - Maintain a well-groomed section of the product roadmap, keeping stakeholders informed. - Collaborate with engineering, design, and QA to ensure high-quality, on-time releases. - Platform Improvement: - Partner with engineering to identify and address friction in user journeys across the LMS platform. - Contribute to initiatives improving underlying systems architecture for faster and more reliable delivery. - Ensure smooth integration of product changes with existing services to minimize disruption to live users. - Stakeholder Engagement: - Communicate product plans, progress, and decisions clearly to cross-functional partners and senior stakeholders. - Gather and synthesize feedback to sharpen product direction. - Build productive relationships with peers in engineering, design, marketing, and customer success. - Agile Practice: - Actively participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives. - Collaborate with the Scrum Master and team lead to enhance delivery processes and team productivity. - Bring an agile, iterative mindset to problem-solving by testing assumptions early and learning fast. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. - 7+ years of product management experience, preferably in a B2B or SaaS environment. - Proven ability to own a product area end-to-end, from discovery to delivery. - Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. - Solid understanding of agile frameworks and hands-on experience in agile teams. - Analytical approach to decision-making with comfort in handling data, metrics, and ambiguity. - Technical fluency to engage meaningfully with engineering on architecture and feasibility questions. - Experience in the education sector or with learning management systems is a plus.
