Backend Engineer

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Pocketpills, you will be a crucial part of our Product team, focusing on designing and implementing server-side logic to ensure application scalability and security. Your responsibilities will also include maintaining our technology stack, which involves Java, SQL, Spring, and more. You will work alongside a team of pharmacists, engineers, designers, and data scientists to innovate and transform the pharmacy industry in Canada. Key Responsibilities: - Design and implement server-side logic to enhance application scalability and security - Maintain and update the technology stack, including Java, SQL, Spring, and more - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop features that enhance the user experience in the Canadian market - Participate in agile rituals such as daily stand-ups, iteration planning, story huddles, retrospectives, and creation of burn-up charts - Provide guidance, coaching, and educational opportunities to software developers - Work closely with the development team in Canada as per business needs Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field - 3 to 4 years of programming experience in Core Java with the Spring Framework - Proficient in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and SQL - Familiarity with Hibernate, Jenkins, Maven, and CI/CD pipelines - Experience in Test-driven development and system design - Ability to develop solutions from scratch - Excitement about working in a growth-stage startup and solving complex problems Please note that this role requires collaboration with the development team in Canada based on business needs.
