About the role
Role Overview: As a member of the Next-Gen Backend & Data Platform Team at GoKwik in Gurgaon, you will be part of a growth operating system designed to empower D2C and eCommerce brands. Your role will involve designing and building scalable, high-performance data platforms and pipelines, working on distributed data systems, taking end-to-end ownership from architecture to deployment, and collaborating with teams to drive data engineering best practices. This is not a traditional ETL-heavy Data Engineering role, but one that requires you to think beyond pipelines and understand distributed systems, real-time architectures, backend engineering, and up-to-date open-source data stacks. Key Responsibilities: - Design and build scalable, high-performance data platforms and pipelines - Work on distributed data systems across batch and real-time processing - Take end-to-end ownership from architecture to deployment and optimization - Debug, optimize, and extend open-source data systems - Solve problems at the infrastructure and systems level - Collaborate across teams and drive data engineering best practices Qualifications Required: - 2+ years of experience in Data Engineering / Data Platform roles - Solid understanding of distributed systems, data storage, and compute layers - Ability to design systems from first principles, not just use tools - Hands-on experience with open-source or self-managed architectures - Solid programming skills in Python or Go (Golang) - Experience with system design, performance tuning, and debugging at scale Additional Details: GoKwik is a growth operating system powering over 15,000+ merchants worldwide and processing around $2 billion in GMV.
