About the role
Wiring Harness Design: Develop detailed designs for wiring harnesses based on project requirements, electrical specifications, and schematic diagrams Component Selection: Select appropriate connectors, cables, wires, and other components needed for the harness, taking into account factors like voltage, current, and environmental conditions Harness Routing: Plan and design the routing of wiring harnesses within complex systems or vehicles to ensure proper organization, safety, and ease of installation Connector Design: Create connector layouts and designs for harness termination points and ensure they align with component interfaces and attachment points Compliance and Standards: Ensure that wiring harness designs adhere to industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements relevant to the specific application or industry Schematic Interpretation: Interpret electrical schematics and diagrams to understand the connections and requirements for the wiring harness CAD Software: Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software tools, such as CATIA or AutoCAD Electrical, for harness design and documentation Prototyping: Support the creation of prototype harnesses for testing and validation purposes, making necessary adjustments based on test results Cost Analysis: Collaborate with cost estimators and engineers to evaluate the cost implications of different materials and component selections for harness manufacturing
