Position Overview This role is the on-ground engineering leader in Bangalore, responsible for day-to-day team execution, culture, and delivery. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will manage a team of 5–10 engineers, drive sprint commitments, and partner with US-based product leadership on roadmap execution. The position carries a clear growth trajectory to VP/Director of Engineering as the company scales. Role & Responsibilities Own sprint planning, delivery commitments, and team velocity — partnering with the CPO on roadmap prioritization and trade-offs Manage 5–10 engineers through regular 1-on-1s, structured performance feedback, and active career development planning Lead full-cycle hiring: sourcing, technical interviews, offer decisions, and onboarding for new engineering hires Provide architectural guidance and hands-on code reviews; contribute directly to critical features or high-risk technical areas Track and improve key engineering metrics — velocity, deployment frequency, defect rates — and report progress to the CTO Remove blockers, shield the team from context-switching, and maintain clear communication with US-based leadership across time zones Build a culture of ownership, accountability, and urgency through team ceremonies, retrospectives, and engineering standards Must Have Criteria 7–10 years of software engineering experience with 2+ years directly managing engineering teams of 5–10 people Hands-on proficiency in React, Node.js, and Python with production-grade AWS deployments (EC2, Lambda, RDS, or equivalent) Demonstrated experience building and scaling systems processing millions of transactions per month Proven track record of shipping products on schedule in a seed-to-Series B startup environment with shifting priorities Nice to Have Enterprise SaaS background with working knowledge of multi-tenancy, SOC 2 compliance, or data security requirements Prior experience managing distributed teams with product leadership in the US and engineering in India Track record of growing engineers into senior or lead roles within 12–18 months Exposure to AI/ML integration in product workflows (not research — applied use cases such as recommendations, forecasting, or automation) What We Offer Competitive salary with meaningful equity in a post-PMF, seed-stage company with strong revenue traction Hybrid work model with flexibility on the remaining days
