Location: IIT Palakkad, Kerala (On-site) Duration: 46 Months Stipend: Will be provided as per project norms About the OpportunityWe are seeking enthusiastic and driven students and recent graduates with a passion for embedded systems, electronics, and intelligent control systems to join our product development team. As an Electronics, Embedded Systems & Controls Intern, you will contribute to the development of an advanced electro-mechanical product by designing embedded control systems, integrating sensors and actuators, developing motor control algorithms, and validating system performance. This internship provides hands-on exposure to the complete embedded product development lifecyclefrom electronics architecture and firmware development to hardware integration, testing, and product validation. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop embedded electronics architecture for electro-mechanical systems.Develop firmware for microcontroller-based control systems.Design and implement motor control algorithms for precise and synchronised operation.Interface and integrate:DC/BLDC motorsMotor driversPosition and motion sensorsLimit switchesBattery management systems (BMS)Safety and monitoring modulesDevelop embedded control logic, safety interlocks, and fault detection mechanisms.Program microcontrollers for:Motion and control applicationsReal-time monitoringSafety managementSystem diagnosticsSupport electronic circuit design, PCB development, and hardware bring-up.Perform hardware integration, debugging, system testing, and validation.Analyse system performance and optimise firmware for reliability and efficiency.Prepare technical documentation, test reports, wiring diagrams, and design records.Collaborate closely with mechanical and product development teams to ensure seamless system integration.Required SkillsStrong programming skills in Embedded C/C++Experience with Arduino, ESP32, or STM32 development platformsUnderstanding of embedded systems architectureKnowledge of motor control fundamentalsElectronics circuit design and debuggingExperience interfacing sensors, actuators, and communication peripheralsStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skillsPreferred SkillsPCB design using KiCad, EasyEDA, or similar toolsBattery Management System (BMS) fundamentalsCommunication protocols such as UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, or BLEWireless communication and IoT integrationRobotics and automation fundamentalsFamiliarity with control systems and embedded product developmentEligibilityB.Tech/B.E. in:Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE)Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE)Electrical EngineeringMechatronics EngineeringInstrumentation Engineering or related disciplinesFinal-year students or recent graduatesCandidates with relevant academic or personal embedded systems projects are encouraged to apply. .
