About the role
Role Overview: As the first technical hire at Scalemetrics, you will be responsible for building the Financial Brain from scratch. You will be tasked with making architectural decisions, choosing the technology stack, and owning the system end to end. This role is crucial for establishing the engineering team and its technical standards as the company grows. Key Responsibilities: - Design and develop the core platform, including services, APIs, data flows, and infrastructure, without predefined specifications. - Translate ambiguous business requirements into concrete systems, evaluate tools and trade-offs, and make build-vs-buy decisions. - Engineer AI-driven workflows for extracting, classifying, and reconciling financial data across multiple currencies and jurisdictions. - Architect the cloud platform by designing microservices and APIs, implementing authentication and authorization, and ensuring secure and scalable infrastructure. - Build secure integrations with global accounting platforms to maintain integrity and audit trails. - Collaborate with customers to gather feedback, iterate on solutions, and contribute to the product roadmap. Qualifications Required: - Proven experience in building systems from scratch and owning problems without predefined solutions. - Demonstrated technical leadership through design decisions, stack evaluations, and setting technical direction. - 5+ years of experience in full-stack or backend platform work, preferably in FinTech, Audit Tech, or similar domains with high correctness and security demands. - Expertise in designing and building microservices, REST/GraphQL APIs, and connecting systems. - Implementation of secure authentication and authorization mechanisms in production code, including JWT, RBAC, and secrets management. - Ability to architect cloud solutions for scalability, multi-tenancy, and resilience. - Hands-on experience with AI and LLM tooling or a proven track record of quickly learning new technical domains. - Proficiency in Python and SQL for developing clean, modular code and data modeling across structured and unstructured formats.
