About the role
As a Gas Turbine - Combustion Heat Transfer Engineer at Siemens Energy, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and implementing the thermal design of gas turbine combustor components such as liners, transitions, nozzles, or burners. Your role will involve various tasks including concept generation, heat transfer & fluid dynamics calculations, collaboration with CAD modelers, solving CFD/CHT calculations, and supporting developmental and testing aspects for product validation. Regular interaction with global teams, persuasive communication skills, and some travel may also be part of your responsibilities. Key Responsibilities: - Design and analyze cooling of gas turbine combustor parts - Conduct thermal & flow modeling using network approach with pressure loss and heat transfer correlations - Perform heat transfer and flow analysis using in-house & commercial tools such as Star CCM and ANSYS - Apply boundary conditions for FE solver calculations of material temperature - Prepare effective presentations and detailed design reports - Act as a point of contact and provide expertise on hot gas path heat transfer topics - Collaborate with project lead to find solutions to design challenges and deliver results within agreed timeline & quality - Mentor other team members and advance technical expertise - Opportunity to publish technical reports in journals and conferences Qualifications Required: - MTech in Mechanical Engineering (major in Fluid & Thermal Science) - Minimum 5 years of experience in thermal analysis and design of gas turbine components - Basic knowledge of Finite Element Analysis and ability to review results - Familiarity with FE codes like ANSYS - Ability to align with organizational purpose, values, and behavior - Proficient in writing clear and descriptive reports in English Desired qualifications: - Basic knowledge of Combustion Aerodynamics, Strength of Materials, and manufacturing aspects for gas turbine combustor parts - Working knowledge of NX or similar solid modeling CAD software - Exposure to SAP and Teamcenter PLM - Programming skills like Python, MATLAB - Strong interpersonal skills and ability to adapt quickly - Self-driven with a willingness to learn and try new methods - Curiosity, perseverance, and desire for engineering excellence - Effective communicator both verbal and non-verbal In this role based at Site (Gurgaon), you will have the opportunity to work with diverse teams impacting cities, countries, and shaping the future.
