About the role
Role & responsibilities 1. Industrial Engineering & Plant CAPEX Management Plant Layout Design: Optimize existing and design new macro/micro plant layouts using lean principles to ensure seamless material flow, safety, and space utilization. CAPEX Execution: Define, evaluate, and justify budget requirements for capacity expansion, machinery procurement, and infrastructure upgrades. Take ownership of CAPEX projects from vendor selection to final commissioning. Capacity Planning: Conduct time-and-motion studies, line balancing, and cycle time analysis to eliminate bottlenecks and optimize resource deployment. 2. Machining, Assembly & Process Improvement Process Engineering: Define standard operating procedures (SOPs), routing sheets, and control plans for both precision machining operations and complex assembly lines. Continuous Improvement: Lead Kaizen, 5S, and Six Sigma initiatives to drive down cycle times, minimize manufacturing waste (Muda), and reduce overall cost-of-goods-sold (COGS). New Product Introduction (NPI): Partner with the R&D/Design teams to ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles are embedded early in the production lifecycle. 3. Tooling, Jigs & Fixtures Engineering Tooling Optimization: Evaluate, select, and deploy high-performance cutting tools and workholding systems for CNC, VMC, or conventional machining setups. Jigs & Fixtures Application: Conceptualize, review, and implement robust jigs, fixtures, and error-proofing (Poka-Yoke) mechanisms to assure repeatable assembly quality and operator safety. Vendor Management: Collaborate with tool rooms and external suppliers for the fabrication, trial run, and validation of production tooling. Preferred candidate profile Technical Software: Proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Creo) for layout planning and fixture review. Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP/Oracle) is preferred. Core Knowledge: Strong command over machining parameters, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), Lean Manufacturing, and assembly line balancing. Leadership Traits: Strong analytical problem-solving skills, cross-functional communication, and the ability to mentor a team of engineers or technicians.
