About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Power Plant Electrical Systems
Operation and maintenance of generators, transformers, switchgear, motors, and protection systems.
Monitoring electrical equipment performance and ensuring uninterrupted power generation.
Troubleshooting electrical faults and coordinating repairs.
- High-Voltage Equipment
Managing substations, transmission interfaces, circuit breakers, isolators, and protection relays.
Conducting testing and commissioning of new electrical equipment.
Ensuring compliance with grid and safety standards.
- Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
Preparing maintenance schedules.
Analyzing equipment condition through testing and diagnostics.
Reducing forced outages and improving plant availability.
- Project Execution
Reviewing electrical drawings and specifications.
Supervising contractors during erection and commissioning activities.
Coordinating with civil, mechanical, instrumentation, and control teams.
- Safety & Compliance
Following electrical safety procedures and permit systems.
Ensuring compliance with regulations from organizations such as Central Electricity Authority and other statutory bodies.
Conducting safety audits and risk assessments.
- Renewable Energy Projects
In NTPC's solar and renewable projects, engineers may also work on:
