About the role
General Capabilities and Credentials
Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently and take initiative
Proficiency with MS Office suite (specifically Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat
Ability to learn and adapt to multiple tasks and processes quickly in a dynamic environment
Excellent technical writing
Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail
Support and ensure implementation of Stantec’s Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work and coordinate with HSE professionals during the execution of all phases of project planning and implementation
Ability to build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and clients
GIS Capabilities
Ability to create maps and perform a wide range of geospatial analyses in support of environmental field studies and permitting of environmental impacts, as well as local land use and state construction approvals
Ability to adhere to established cartographic standards and quality assurance/ quality control processes
Ability to manage a wide variety of project specific and reference geospatial data in accordance with defined data management standards
Ability to support geospatial field data collection efforts. Typical collected features include wetlands, waterways, and rare, threatened, or endangered species occurrences or habitats
Ability to collaborate with existing GIS staff members working in various Stantec offices
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field with demonstrated GIS training or course work
0-3 Years of Experience
Previous experience in environmental permitting and/or providing GIS services in support of environmental projects preferred but not required
