Job Title: CIP Technical Lead
Location: Raleigh, NC

Overview
As a CIP (Clean-in-Place) Technical Lead , you will be responsible for leading a technical team in performing CIP shakedown, troubleshooting, cleaning cycle development, execution, and process performance optimization. This role requires a hands-on leader with a strong understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing, cleaning validation, and automation systems. The position offers the opportunity for independent decision-making and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Provide subject matter expertise on engineering and startup projects related to CIP.
Lead and coordinate a team in CIP cycle development and troubleshooting efforts.
Create cleaning strategies for a variety of equipment, including:
Process vessels and lines
Chromatography skid/columns
UF/DF skids
Centrifuges
Glass/parts washers
Portable processing equipment
Review batch records , ensuring in-process data accuracy and calibration compliance.
Conduct hydraulic and piping design calculations , including:
Flow rate
Reynolds number
Pump sizing
Perform CIP shakedown and parameter adjustments to optimize cycle performance.
Support commissioning and automation of CIP systems using PLC , SCADA , or Delta V .
Prepare reports, review engineering specifications, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Act as a liaison with clients and vendors for troubleshooting and technical consultation.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or GMP-regulated environments.
Proven experience with:
CIP cycle development and optimization
Cleaning validation protocols (authoring, execution, and reporting)
CIP troubleshooting and performance evaluation
CIP shakedown and parameter modification
Strong foundation in hydraulic calculations and flow analysis.
Familiarity with automation systems (PLC, SCADA, Delta V).
Experience in engineering project management .
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and technical documentation tools.
