Job Title: Engineering – Plastics Engineer (Mid-Level) Location: Indianapolis, IN 46268 (Lakeview Parkway) – Onsite Duration: 12 Months (High Possibility of Extension)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Plastics Engineer (Mid-Level) with strong experience in plastics tooling, molding processes, and cross-functional project management. This role involves leading and executing engineering projects related to the design and manufacturing of plastic medical devices , ensuring compliance with industry standards, cost targets, and delivery timelines. The engineer will work closely with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams.

Top 3 Must-Have Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in plastics tooling and manufacturing processes

Proven project management experience in an engineering environment

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Plastics, or Manufacturing Engineering

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage projects involving the design, development, and production of plastic medical devices

Ensure timely project execution within scope, budget, and quality expectations

Provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams and resolve complex issues

Participate in mold and part design reviews, troubleshooting and risk assessments

Develop and implement process improvements and validation activities for medical device components

Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to optimize material selection and tooling design

Drive continuous improvement through scientific molding, Lean tools, and statistical analysis

Create technical documentation, perform risk analysis, and support design transfer activities

Evaluate new materials, processes, and technologies to enhance product performance

Ensure compliance with medical device regulations and industry standards throughout development

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Plastics, or Manufacturing Engineering

5+ years of experience in plastics tooling and manufacturing

Strong expertise in Scientific Molding and Process Development

Proficient with CAD/CAE tools – SolidWorks preferred

Solid understanding of GD&T , Mold Flow Analysis , DOE , SPC , FMEA

Experience using Minitab or other statistical software for process control

Demonstrated leadership and project management capabilities

Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and methods

Deep understanding of polymer materials , particularly polyolefins

Experience in medical device product development and validation requirements

Strong documentation and technical writing skills, with proficiency in MS Office
