Packaging Development Engineer

Job Title: Packaging Development Engineer (Technical Lead) Location: Raynham, MA (Onsite)

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Packaging Development Engineer to lead end-to-end packaging design and development for medical devices. This role covers sterile, non-sterile, and electronic packaging systems, including advanced digital and robotic platforms. The candidate will drive strategy, execution, and compliance across global markets, especially EU regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Lead packaging design, development, and validation from concept to commercialization

Develop sterile barrier systems compliant with ISO 11607

Support non-sterile packaging for orthopedic products

Design packaging for electronic and robotic medical devices

Act as technical lead across cross-functional teams (R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing)

Manage validation activities: transit testing, aging, and integrity testing

Ensure compliance with EU regulations (MDR, PFAS, packaging waste directives)

Collaborate with suppliers on specifications and scalable solutions

Drive cost, sustainability, and performance improvements

Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership

Required Skills & Experience

Strong experience in medical device packaging development

Expertise in sterile and non-sterile packaging systems

Knowledge of ISO 11607 and packaging validation processes

Experience with EU MDR and sustainability regulations

Hands-on experience with transit testing, aging studies, and packaging validation

Ability to lead cross-functional teams and projects

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with electronic or robotic device packaging

• Strong understanding of global regulatory requirements

• Leadership or technical lead experience
