Packaging Engineer

Job Title: Packaging Engineer Location: Waltham, MA (Onsite)

Experience: 5+ Years Contract: 12+ months

Position Overview: We’re seeking a skilled Packaging Engineer to design, test, and improve packaging systems that meet both functional and regulatory requirements. This role involves hands-on work in packaging development, testing, and documentation while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and update packaging to ensure product protection during shipping, handling, and storage.

Develop, schedule, and execute packaging validation tests following ISO, ASTM, and ISTA standards.

Maintain and calibrate lab equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability in testing.

Collect, analyze, and interpret test data to drive packaging decisions and support product release.

Investigate and resolve technical issues related to packaging design, materials, and processes.

Prepare technical documentation including protocols, reports, specifications, and FMEAs.

Collaborate with product development, manufacturing, and marketing teams to deliver optimized packaging solutions.

Drive process improvements by applying data-driven insights and ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

• Solid understanding of packaging materials (plastics, cardboard, metal) and testing methodologies.

• Proficiency in CAD software and MS Office applications.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform root cause analyses.

• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

• Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong attention to detail with an understanding of labeling, typography, and visual design principles.
