Job Title : Performance Engineer.

Location : Mason, OH

Duration: 6+ Months

The ideal candidate for the Systems Performance Technical Lead would be a highly passionate, extremely technical, self-starter who enjoys solving problems. This individual would be capable of independently owning a Performance Engineering engagement from end to end. This would be inclusive of holistic non-functional requirements gathering, performance script & scenario development, work-load modelling, test strategy development, performance test execution as well as the detailed and thorough analysis of all test results.

Additionally this individual would be required to provide, based on results analysis any recommendations for tuning / optimization that may be necessary to deliver a given system to production that is free of performance defects and system capacity concerns and also meeting customer non-functional requirements Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

Proactive monitoring and diagnosis of production and test environment performance issues with emphasis on Root Cause Analysis.

Makes recommendations for improving performance and stability of supported systems

Follows and suggests improvements when needed for the performance engineering process.

Works well independently and with other Performance Engineers and peripheral teams to ensure there is clear understanding of test results and that proper, thorough analysis is conducted for all test scenarios executed.

Conducts final review of test results with project stakeholders and management as needed to ensure all are informed of any and all critical issues and status.

Follows the defined Agile engagement and delivery model for Performance Engineering ensuring they are properly aligned to work-efforts within Jira and at the SCRUM-team level.

Reviews architectural system design for assigned systems to help identify performance risks and potential issues or bottlenecks based on poor or inefficient design or questionable requirements.

Experience in performance tuning and analysis at different layers of a system architecture such as Database tuning, JAVA Tuning and UI tuning

Works with Business Analysts and business teams when needed to ensure complete understanding of performance non-functional requirements.

Escalate to management any issues and risks with recommendations for mitigation/resolution.

Prepare Performance Test Strategy and detailed Results & Analysis documentation for all assigned project engagements.

Provides coaching and mentoring to program and application development groups and junior level team members relevant to systems performance engineering process as well as strategies for analysis/tuning/optimization.

Technology Skills: • Java/J2EE/C++ Programming - ability to read, analyze and debug code as needed

Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) • Service Oriented Architecture (SOA including SOAP & REST implementations) • Unix Systems (AIX, LINUX, HPUX, etc) including strong command line abilities – must be able to quickly diagnose O/S level issues as needed on Unix Hosts leveraging proper system commands. • Application Server Technology including setup, configuration, optimization and tuning (WebSphere Application Server, JBOSS, Apache Tomcat etc.) • Web Server Technology (IBM IHS, Ingenix, Apache etc.)

Relational Databases (MSSQL, DB2, Oracle, etc) including performance analysis and optimization of databases and queries • Containerization Concepts & Technology (Docker, RedHat OpenShift, Kubernetes)

DataPower Appliances/IDG as well as network infrastructure and caching appliances.

Sequel Query Language (SQL) including ability to write ad-hoc queries as needed to fetch data or other peripheral DB tasks related to the Performance Engineering work at hand. • Heap / Thread dump analysis Tools Experience: • CA Introscope/Wily • SPLUNK • HP Performance Center/Load Runner • NMON, IOSTAT, VMSTAT, NETSTAT, TOP and other O/S level tools • Atlassian Suite of Agile Tools (Jira, BitBucket, Bamboo etc.) • Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) • AWR Report Analysis • IBM Heap Dump Analyzer or Equivalent • IBM Thread Dump Analyzer or Equivalent • Fiddler/Wireshark Qualifications – External:
