JOB TITLE: Engineer - HSEF GRADE: E-1 JOB LOCATION: Guniea/Nigeria REPORTING TO: Lead-HSE BUSINESS UNIT: Mining Metal SUB_BUSINESS_UNIT: Metal DEPARTMENT: Alumina Refinery SUB_DEPARTMENT: HSEF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Preparing HSE plans and procedures for the development and implementation of HSE plans and emergency response plans that comply with company policies, procedures, and local requirements for Green Field projects. Assisting Head-HSE in issuing HSE policies and guidelines and defining organizational roles and responsibilities related to safety aspects. Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for employees. Ensure all employees are properly trained on EHS policies, procedures, and protocols. Foster a culture of safety through continuous education and awareness campaigns. Identifying the causes of unsafe acts and conditions through procedure review, equipment and facility inspection, and worker observation, and providing recommendations for corrective actions. Participating in the investigation of site accidents and incidents, collecting and analyzing injury and safety survey statistical data, and reporting findings, including recommendations to prevent recurrence and implementing approved courses of action. Attending pre-job, planning, and consultant/contractor meetings, as required, and supervising company specific HSE audits, reports, certifications, permits, etc. Conducting regular audits and inspections at project locations. Investigating all accidents and near misses, preparing reports of findings, including recommendations to prevent recurrence, and implementing approved courses of action. Educating, engaging, and evolving management and supervisors to develop a shared ownership approach to safety management. Develop emergency response plans and procedures for various scenarios. Conduct drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency response protocols. Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure readiness for emergencies FUNCTIONAL SKILLS well conversant with Safety, Health Environmental regulations, and policies, Factory Act. Expert in conducting the HSE activities Knowledgeable in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OSHA 18001 standards Exellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including negotiation skills. Strong leadership skills to effectively lead teams. Conversant with HSE processes statutory compliance as per international standards.
