Job Title: Z/OS System Programmer Client: HCL Payroll: TECEZE Experience: 7+ Years Location: Bengaluru, Chennai Employment Type: Onsite | Full-time Role Summary We are seeking an experienced IBM MQ Series FTE z/OS Admin System Programmer to manage, administer, and support IBM MQ Series and File Transfer Edition (FTE) on the z/OS platform. The ideal candidate will ensure a secure, reliable, and high-performing messaging infrastructure that supports mission-critical enterprise applications and batch operations. This role requires deep expertise in MQ, z/OS environments, and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities MQ Administration Install, configure, and maintain IBM MQ Series and MQ FTE on z/OS. Manage MQ objects such as queue managers, queues, channels, and cluster configurations. Monitor MQ performance, implement tuning, and optimize throughput and system availability. Upgrade Support Plan, test, and execute MQ Series and FTE upgrades on z/OS platforms. Perform compatibility checks, regression testing, and ensure rollback readiness. Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to minimize operational downtime. Security & Compliance Configure and manage MQ security using TLS/SSH, RACF, and security exits. Ensure all MQ environments meet compliance and audit standards. System Programming & Integration Integrate MQ with key z/OS subsystems such as CICS, DB2, and IMS. Automate MQ processes using REXX, JCL, or Assembler scripts. Disaster Recovery & High Availability Design and implement MQ Queue Sharing Groups and RESLEVEL configurations for HA. Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and failover procedures. Collaboration & Support Work closely with developers, infrastructure engineers, and support teams to resolve MQ-related issues. Provide mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and documentation to enhance team efficiency. Documentation & Process Improvement Maintain complete documentation of MQ configurations, operational procedures, and best practices. Identify automation opportunities and contribute to process optimization. Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Expertise Minimum 8 years of experience managing IBM MQ on z/OS. Strong understanding of MQ Queue Sharing Groups, FTE configurations, and MQ monitoring tools. Skilled in COBOL, REXX, JCL, and related scripting languages. Soft Skills Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in hybrid environments. Preferred Certifications IBM Certified MQ Administrator (or equivalent relevant certification).
