Database Specialist

As a Database Engineering Specialist at Thales, you will be an expert across various database technologies with a mandatory focus on Cassandra databases and expertise in Public Cloud technology such as AWS and/or GCP. Your responsibilities will include managing database installation, deployment strategy, architecture design, new product software release application, technical project planning, troubleshooting, project estimation, technical decision making, and providing database consultant services to the delivery and operation team. You will work closely with product teams, delivery teams, support & operations teams, and management teams to meet requirements across solution support, operations, and technical project delivery. Key Responsibilities: - Member of the global database services team providing 24/7 on-call support - Build, test, and review technical documentation for managing production changes - Deploy and maintain database monitoring solutions - Develop backup and recovery architectures for customer database platform solutions - Design and deploy database high availability solutions using replication technology - Participate in maintenance window activities for platform changes - Lead datacenter technology architecture decisions and security audits - Provide database expertise and support to technical teams - Analyze project requirements, define task timelines, and design migration strategies - Participate in technical database architecture design and tuning exercises - Provide proactive recommendations for improvements in production platforms Qualifications Required: - College degree in Computer Science - 3-5 years of experience in NOSQL databases, specifically Cassandra administration - Experience in Oracle and MySQL database administration - Extensive background in public cloud database deployment and migration - Expertise in database concepts, deployment methodologies, and high availability architectures - Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle phases - Excellent communication skills and leadership qualities At Thales, we value respect, trust, collaboration, and passion in our workplace culture.
