About the role
Title: Embedded Software Engineer Duration: 12 Months Location: Mossville, IL 61552 (Remote until Office Reopens) Candidate Responsibilities This is a position for a Product Cyber security Engineer to develop Cyber security solutions for Caterpillar machine & engine product lines that will be used for years to come. The candidate’s duties will include but are not limited to investigation of known vulnerabilities, development of solutions to improve product cybersecurity, documentation and testing of issues. This position includes working in close collaboration with cross-functional teams consisting of hardware engineers, internal and external software vendors, and systems engineers to architect and integrate the products. Typical Day Remote until Office Reopens. Candidate will need to be able to come on-site as needed until Office reopens. The candidate will be investigating known vulnerabilities, developing solutions to improve product cybersecurity, documenting, and testing issues. Education Requirement BSEE, BSCE, BSCS, BS Systems Engineering, or BSME Technical Skills Required o Required Qualifications: BSEE, BSCE, BSCS, BS Systems Engineering, or BSME 4+ years of progressive experience in design and development of embedded or IoT products ; including system design, architecture and software development. In-depth knowledge of embedded or IoT system communications architecture. 1+ years’ experience with common automotive and industrial communications protocols (e.g. CAN, J1939, Ethernet, and EtherNet/IP). Experience with Ethernet, TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, and analysis tools such as Wireshark § Strong understanding of security principles and network fundamentals o Top Candidates will also have: Desire to work in a fast-paced Agile team environment Experience in implementing system and network security, authentication and security protocols, cryptography, or public key infrastructure (PKI). Experience identifying, investigating, and responding to complex attacks in on premises and IoT devices Ideate and invent new security techniques or countermeasures for in-vehicle products. Experience with Secure Coding Techniques. Experience with Linux-based Operating Systems and/or U-boot. Experience with GIT configuration management tool Soft Skills Required Team Player Good verbal and written communication skills, including the use of Microsoft Office when producing requirements, specifications, reports, and test plans.
