Understanding of Network Principals (IP, VPN), and how to troubleshoot security issues within Job Description: The Firewall Engineer is a critical member of Client's Enterprise Cybersecurity Solutions (ECS) team, and is responsible for engineering and operations of solutions to protect Client’s applications, computer networks and systems. The Firewall Engineer will resolve customer issues within SLAs, improve perimeter and segmentation resiliency, prevent and recover from outages, manage technical specifications and dependencies with cross-platform integrations, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and engage other teams as a cybersecurity engineering SME. Responsibilities include but not limited to: • Firewall engineers are problem solvers with a strong technical aptitude. They communicate well with clients and other members of their team, and they hold their work to high standards, optimizing performance and resolving all errors. • Demonstrate expertise in computer security and networking and familiarity with underlying theories through diagnosis of perimeter issues and engineering of perimeter infrastructure. • High customer service through interaction with internal customers during all phases of projects, from planning to maintenance, being mindful of customer needs and clear communication of complex information. • Demonstrate high attention to detail and ensuring strong security through least privilege access provision. • Work with vendor support to continuously improve the products’ implementation, integration and utilization. • Partner with other enterprise teams to resolve network and integration issues. • Partner with compliance, governance and risk, as needed, to meet corporate policies and regulatory mandates • Conduct technical analysis and provide recommendations to internal customers • Collaborate with all Cybersecurity teams to ensure a high quality of automation, integration and security capabilities Qualifications: Note: specific security related experience preferred but not required • Experience with Palo Alto or next generation firewall policy management and related components. • Experience with Tufin or other complimentary firewall management tools. • Understanding of network principals (e.g., IP, VPN, routing). • Ability to troubleshoot simple to complex network security issues by utilizing the firewall and other logging tools (e.g., Splunk). • Ability to recognize, understand, scrutinize, debate, and evaluate to provide solutions that balance availability and security. • Inherent curiosity in understanding the unexplainable. • Ability to manage multiple operational needs and projects simultaneously. • Familiarity with common IT industry standards, best practices, regulatory and compliance requirements.
