Lead Data & Governance Architect

Role Overview: As an Enterprise Data Architect, you will be responsible for defining and owning the enterprise data architecture roadmap. You will design scalable Azure-based Lakehouse architectures, create and govern data models, design data pipelines, drive system modernization, implement data governance frameworks, ensure data quality and reliability, provide technical mentorship, and enable self-service analytics. Key Responsibilities: - Define and own the enterprise data architecture roadmap - Design scalable Azure-based Lakehouse architectures (Databricks / Fabric) - Create and govern conceptual, logical, and physical data models - Design data pipelines and ingestion frameworks for complex industrial systems - Drive the migration from legacy systems to modern cloud patterns - Define and implement the enterprise-wide data governance framework - Establish data policies, ownership/stewardship models, and escalation workflows - Own the global Master Data Management (MDM) strategy - Ensure data security, lineage, and GDPR compliance are embedded in every architectural decision - Implement data quality rules and automated monitoring dashboards - Define critical data elements and facilitate root-cause analysis - Guide data engineers on implementation patterns and best practices - Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams - Enable self-service analytics by designing governed semantic layers Qualification Required: - Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Data Management, or Engineering - Expert knowledge of Azure Data Platform (ADLS, Synapse, Databricks, Fabric) - Strong hands-on experience with ETL/ELT design, SQL, Python, and Spark - Deep understanding of governance frameworks - Experience with Data Cataloging, Business Glossaries, and RBAC security models - 7+ years of experience in data leadership within Manufacturing, Steel, or Industry 4.0 environments - Excellent influence-without-authority skills and fluent in English Additional Company Details: The company values certifications such as TOGAF, Azure Solutions Architect, or DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP). Exposure to Data Virtualization, Data Mesh architecture, or AI/ML feature stores is considered a plus. Familiarity with SAP and Supply Chain/Quality systems as well as knowledge of French, Portuguese, or Dutch languages are also desirable.
