We are seeking a skilled AWS Java Production Support Engineer to manage, monitor, and support critical applications in a cloud-based environment. The ideal candidate will have solid expertise in Java applications, AWS services, production support operations, and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Elastic APM, Datadog, along with experience in incident management using ServiceNow. Primary Responsibilities: Production Support & Incident ManagementProvide L2/L3 production support for Java-based applications hosted on AWSMonitor application health, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and performanceHandle incident, problem, and change management using ServiceNowPerform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measuresApplication Monitoring & ObservabilityUtilize monitoring tools such as:Splunk (logs and analytics)Elastic APM (application performance monitoring)Datadog (metrics, traces, dashboards)Set up alerts, dashboards, and performance baselinesProactively identify system anomalies and performance bottlenecksAWS Cloud OperationsManage and support applications on AWS using services like:EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, ECS/EKSTroubleshoot cloud-related issues such as scaling, networking, and deploymentsEnsure security and best practices in AWS environmentsJava Application SupportSupport and debug Java/J2EE/Spring Boot applicationsAnalyze logs, thread dumps, and heap dumps to resolve issuesCollaborate with development teams on bug fixes and improvementsAutomation & Continuous ImprovementAutomate repetitive operational tasks using scripts (Shell, Python, etc.)Improve monitoring, alerting, and incident response processesParticipate in on-call rotations and provide after-hours support as requiredComply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do soRequired Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field3+ years in production support or SRE rolesHands-on experience with monitoring tools:SplunkElastic APMDatadogExperience with ServiceNow for incident/ticket managementSolid understanding of:Linux/Unix systemsSQL/NoSQL databasesREST APIs and microservices architectureSolid expertise in:Java / Spring BootAWS Cloud (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, Lambda, etc.)Good knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git, etc.) At UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
