About the role
As a Data Engineer at Optum, you will be responsible for developing data pipelines, integrating data from various sources, improving processes, building infrastructure, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring data quality. Here are the key responsibilities and qualifications required for this role: Role Overview: - Developing and maintaining optimal data pipeline architectures to ensure efficient data flow and processing. - Assembling large, complex data sets from different sources to meet business requirements. - Identifying and implementing internal process improvements, such as automation and data delivery optimization. - Designing and building infrastructure for data extraction, transformation, and loading using technologies like SQL and AWS. - Working with stakeholders to support their data infrastructure needs and resolve technical issues. - Running tests to isolate errors and updating systems to accommodate changes in company needs. Key Responsibilities: - Familiarity with programming languages like Python or Java for data analysis and application development. - Proficiency in data modeling to represent business requirements and system architecture. - Understanding of data warehousing concepts, including data storage, retrieval, and optimization. - Knowledge of data security best practices, encryption, and access controls. - Expertise in ETL processes and tools like DBT and DBT framework/packages. - Proficiency in relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server) and NoSQL databases. - Understanding of cloud platforms and their data services. - Familiarity with Delta Lake and medallion architecture. - Knowledge of the Data Vault methodology for scalable data warehousing. - Proficiency in using Azure Data Factory for data workflows, movement, and transformation. - Experience with DBT Core. - Health care domain knowledge.
