Role Summary

The D365 Finance & Operations Data Analytics Consultant is responsible for designing, building, and supporting analytics and reporting solutions on top of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, enabling data‑driven decision‑making across finance and operations. The role combines strong D365 F&O process knowledge with advanced skills in data modelling, reporting (Power BI or similar), and stakeholder engagement to translate business questions into reliable insights and KPIs. Key Responsibilities

Work with finance and operations stakeholders to understand reporting, KPI, and analytics requirements, and translate them into data models and dashboards leveraging D365 F&O data. Design and develop interactive reports, dashboards, and self‑service analytics solutions using tools such as Power BI, Excel, and the D365 F&O embedded analytics capabilities. Define and maintain semantic models, data entities, and data flows from D365 F&O (including Data Lake, BYOD, or export to external data platforms) to support current and future analytical needs. Analyze transactional and master data from D365 F&O (Finance, Supply Chain, Projects, Production, etc.) to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process optimization or cost reduction. Partner with functional consultants and business SMEs to define standard KPI libraries (financial KPIs, operational KPIs, working capital metrics, inventory and fulfillment KPIs, etc.). Validate data quality and consistency across source systems, perform reconciliations against financial and operational reports, and recommend corrective actions to improve data integrity. Support design and implementation of data governance practices related to D365 F&O data (definitions, ownership, lineage, and documentation). Collaborate with technical teams to design and optimize data integrations between D365 F&O and analytics platforms (e.g., Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Databricks, SQL). Contribute to solution design for new D365 F&O implementations or rollouts, ensuring analytics and reporting requirements are considered from the start. Provide training and enablement to business users on reports, dashboards, self‑service capabilities, and best practices for using data in day‑to‑day decision‑making. Prepare clear documentation, including data dictionaries, report specifications, KPI definitions, and user guides.

Skills and Qualifications

Solid experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, particularly understanding data structures and key business processes in Finance and/or Supply Chain. Hands‑on experience designing and building reports and dashboards using Power BI or similar BI tools (DAX, data modelling, performance optimization). Strong SQL and data analysis skills, including ability to work with large datasets, join multiple sources, and validate results with business stakeholders. Good understanding of D365 F&O data entities, Data Management Framework, and common patterns to export data to external stores (BYOD, Data Lake, etc.). Ability to translate business questions into analytical requirements, KPIs, and visualizations that are intuitive and actionable for end users. Strong analytical and problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail, data accuracy, and reconciliation against source reports. Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams (functional consultants, solution architects, data engineers, and business SMEs). Excellent communication skills, able to present insights and recommendations to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
