Mechanical Engineer

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Location: Irvine or Sacramento, CA (Hybrid)

Experience: 5+ years Employment Type: 12+ Month Contract

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with strong expertise in HVAC system design and building automation systems (BAS) to join our specialized engineering team. This role involves independent design work, taking projects from concept through construction documents, while collaborating with clients and project teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead HVAC design for remodel (60%) and new construction (40%) projects.

Develop mechanical designs from concept to construction documents, including load calculations, equipment sizing, and system layouts.

Produce and finalize drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.

Incorporate plumbing design knowledge to support HVAC systems.

Coordinate with internal engineers, consultants, and clients to ensure project success.

Engage with clients onsite to discuss project requirements, explain design intent, and ensure satisfaction.

Deliver projects of varying size and complexity.

Experience & Qualifications:

5+ years of mechanical design engineering experience with strong focus on HVAC.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field (architectural, healthcare, facilities, or industrial engineering with strong MEP focus).

Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and familiarity with plumbing design.

Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD (ALTA/KAD).

Strong client-facing skills with clear and effective communication onsite.

Proven ability to take projects from concept to completion with minimal oversight.

Comfortable working in a hybrid environment (3 days in office).

Preferred / Bonus Qualifications:

LEED AP certification

Professional Engineer (PE) license
