About the role
Contributing to the build, installation and deployment of multiple complex network technologies, platforms and/or systems Work closely with other internal teams to achieve a successful outcome for stakeholders Work closely with the various operations teams to support planning and scheduling of network activities Support the expansion and growth strategies of the network, working closely with the capacity team Maintaining a high level of capability in network engineering, including new and emerging technologies, networks tools, systems, and processes so that you can model continuous learning and actively provide coaching and mentoring of other network engineering team members Support the deployment and management of internal networks Manage the spares and global movement of hardware Support the required activities associated with the management of an international ISP global registry support / IP address management Accountability Metrics: Agreed quarterly individual operational key results (OKR) Support the engineering operations associated with keeping the IP network up to date Program metrics and results against pre-defined values Time based projects against outcomes Work closely with the wider IP team to maintain the overall network health of the IP products across both the network and overlay product range Decision Rights: Network expansion and augmentation Capacity requirements General IP network product roadmap Key Relationships/ Interdependencies: Internal: Operations, Automation, Architecture, Sales, Product GSDI, IT External: Strategic and/or technology partners, contractors, consultants, and network suppliers Key Activities for this role: Understanding the impact of changes in the environment; working with agility and creating the conditions for embracing and driving continuous change Considers enterprise impact when adjusting plans in line with changes and proactively plans for changes and develops contingency plans to minimise risk Seeks feedback from customers/stakeholders and adjusts to maximise outcomes Managing product lifecycles: Identifying, develop, monitor product lifecycles to maintain an up-to-date equipment portfolio Transitioning to new networks and solutions - Migrates legacy networks and solutions to new networks and solutions seamlessly, with minimal impact to the customer; Transition planning, Testing, performance monitoring and decommissioning as applicable Network Business and Commercial - Defines and manages business and commercial agreements for the cost-effective delivery of network solutions Business case: Owns the development of compelling business cases, working across the organisation to identify costs and benefits for different business units, performs sensitivity analysis and presents multiple business case options for assessment, critically evaluating designs for resilience, cost-effectiveness, scalability, security and performance Partners and Vendors: Significantly contributes to the development of commercial arrangements with vendors and partners to ensure cost effective delivery of high quality networks and solutions Manages commercial relationships for a significant functional area Commercial Strategy: Substantially contributes to commercial strategy to deliver required outcomes Critically assesses technology selection to determine most economically viable solutions, taking into account deployment costs and all ongoing costs this may include consideration of capital expenditure versus consumption services models Qualifications/Experiences: - University graduate in Telecommunication or related study - Industry certification is requirement with a preference for candidates with Cisco CCIE or Juniper JNCIE certifications - Previous experience with Juniper and Cisco IP networking and equipment in the service provider environment - Excellent analytical and writing skills, with an attention to details Essential Technical Skills: Capacity Planning and capacity management principles and Deployment, BGP, BGP-LS Data Infrastructure, DHCP & DNS, Ethernet, ETSI NFV-MANO (frameworks), Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) IP Networking, IP Routing, IPV4 & IPv6, OSI Reference Model, RPKI (Resource Public Key Infrastructure) Business Case Development, Consumption of services, Network lifecycle management, Optimising network and solution performance, Performance Monitoring, Requirements Gathering, Solution decommissioning / EOL, Transition Planning, Transitioning to new networks & solutions, Waterfall Project Management, Deploying integrated networks and solutions Highly desirable skills : Juniper and Cisco devices hands-on in service provider environment, L2/L3 VPN, MPLS, Multi-cast, VPLS/EVPL, EVPN, Understanding of scripting and Automated Testing for IP network CPE / WAN planning and deployment experience to support internal networks, Inventory management and INTL shipping experience, NSO and automation systems, NETCONF/RESTCONF, Orchestration, CLA technologies,Path Computation Element (PCE), SDN, SDWAN, Segment Routing, Virtual Internet Routing Lab/Cisco Modelling Lab(simulators)Complex Troubleshooting, Solution optimisation, Technology Road mapping, Test Case Development, Unit Testing, Linux Operating System, Network service APIs, Open vSwitch/OVSDB, Perl, Programming Languages, Tools and Frameworks, Python, Rest API, YANG, Internet registries and best practices, Some understanding on programming java, Lean and Agile process, MOP (method of procedure) creation, scheduling, and support Project management, Design, order, build and commissioning of IP networks
