About the role
As a software engineer at Viasat, your role involves being a self-starter and self-motivated individual with experience in software development methods, including Agile/Scrum. You will be responsible for product development, deployment, management of daily production, and developing virtualization environments. Your familiarity with networking & cloud computing concepts will be crucial. Additionally, you will be involved in requirements analysis, use case & user story analysis, high- and low-level design, implementation and unit test, system integration test, deployment monitoring, and sustaining product support. Key Responsibilities: - Work on distributed remote agile teams with a high degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently - Embrace the DevOps philosophy of product development and provide operational support for post-production deployment Qualifications Required: - 6+ Years of software development experience with knowledge of computer science fundamentals - Exposure to any JavaScript framework, experience in ReactJS is a plus - Experience in developing restful services with frameworks such as Flask, Django, or FastAPI - Working with Database technologies in SQL or NoSQL, Query optimization, Fault tolerance - Development experience in Python on a Linux platform - Broad range of technology interests across different fields - Familiarity with cloud computing concepts - Excellent verbal and written communication abilities - Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in relevant technical background Additional Details: - Travel up to 10% - Priorities can change quickly, but staying ahead of timelines is crucial to delight customers - CI/CD and DevOps exposure is a strong plus - Experience in crafting and implementing automated software component and integration tests - Continuous Integration & Deployment (CI/CD) training or experience with GitHub Actions - Prior working experience in a DevOps team is a plus At Viasat, we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer, creating a welcoming and diverse environment.
