Job Description - Quality Engineering (Data / ETL Testing) Position Details Role: Quality Engineering - Data / ETL Tester Experience: 4 - 10 Years Location: Bangalore Employment Type: Full-Time/Hybrid Job Summary We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quality Engineering - Data / ETL Tester with strong expertise in ETL Testing, Databricks, SQL, and Retail Domain. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in validating large-scale data platforms, performing backend/data testing, and working within Agile delivery environments. The candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, integrity, and accuracy of enterprise data solutions by driving end-to-end testing activities including test planning, test execution, defect management, integration testing, and automation initiatives. This role requires strong collaboration with business stakeholders, product teams, developers, data engineers, and vendors to ensure high-quality and timely project delivery. Key Responsibilities Independently manage and execute end-to-end testing activities for data and analytics projects. Analyze business and technical requirements to identify testing scope and test scenarios. Design, develop, and execute test cases for: ETL Testing Data Validation Integration Testing Deployment Testing Regression Testing Backend/Data Testing Validate data pipelines and transformations within Databricks/Spark environments. Perform advanced SQL validations on SQL DB/PostgreSQL/Databricks platforms. Develop and maintain reusable regression test assets and automation frameworks. Work closely with Scrum teams to clarify requirements and ensure testability. Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives. Manage defect lifecycle including defect logging, tracking, prioritization, and validation. Coordinate with vendors and development teams for issue resolution and defect fixes. Identify test data and test environment requirements. Provide accurate test status reports, risk analysis, and RCA (Root Cause Analysis). Support CI/CD and DevOps practices for continuous testing initiatives. Mentor and guide junior testers/test engineers when required. Technical Skills Mandatory Skills & Experience Strong hands-on experience in ETL Testing and Data Testing Experience working with Databricks / Apache Spark Strong expertise in: SQL Data Validation Backend Testing Good understanding of: Azure Data Factory Linked Services SQL DB / PostgreSQL Databricks Architecture Experience executing SQL queries on: SQL Server PostgreSQL Databricks Strong experience in: Integration Testing Deployment Testing Regression Testing Defect Management Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies Understanding of: CI/CD pipelines Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC) ATDD/TDD methodologies Hands-on experience with: VSTS / Azure DevOps GITg JIRA or ALM tools Any backend automation experience using Databricks is an added advantage Domain Expertise Strong experience in the Retail Domain is mandatory Exposure to Data & Analytics platforms in Azure/AWS Understanding of AI/Data-driven testing concepts is a plus Soft Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Self-driven, proactive, and result-oriented Ability to work collaboratively across teams and time zones Strong stakeholder and vendor management skills Educational Qualification Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent
