Lead Mobile Engineer (Flutter + Native Android)

Responsibilities Own a live consumer mobile app end-to-end inherit an existing, fast-built codebase, make it production-hard, and extend it as the product grows.Diagnose and resolve native-layer issues through Android platform channels, where the device not the framework is the cause.Engineer for performance, memory, and reliability on low-end Android hardware and unreliable networks.Integrate the app with backend services and a Postgres-backed platform, including server-side functions and real-time data.Set mobile engineering standards, review code, and mentor a junior engineer.Take features from ambiguous problem to shipped, tested release with minimal supervision.Qualifications 5+ years building mobile applications, with strong production experience in Flutter and Dart.Hands-on native Android experience writing platform-channel code (Kotlin/Java), not only consuming plugins.Proven ability to optimize app performance on budget devices and poor connectivity.Demonstrated ability to take ownership of an unfamiliar codebase and stabilize it independently.Solid command of state management (Riverpod, Bloc, or Provider) and clean Git practices.Experience integrating REST/RPC backends and a Postgres-based backend-as-a-service.Clear written and verbal communication; comfortable working directly with a founder in a fast-moving team.Preferred: iOS/Swift platform-channel experience; push-notification internals; Maps SDK depth (gestures, geofencing, live location); multilingual or accessibility-focused UI; depth in one of applied cryptography, on-device ML, speech/voice, or India payments.
