SQL Server Database Administrator Contract Delhi/Hyderabad Key Responsibilities SQL Server Administration Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments. Administer SQL Server instances across Development, Test, UAT, and Production environments. Monitor database health, storage utilization, and overall system performance. Manage database security, user access, roles, and permissions. High Availability & Disaster Recovery Design, configure, and administer SQL Server Always On Availability Groups. Implement and manage SQL Log Shipping for disaster recovery. Configure and maintain SQL Server Failover Cluster Instances (FCI) where applicable. Develop, test, and maintain Disaster Recovery (DR) procedures. Perform regular backup, restore, and recovery validation exercises. Participate in DR drills and ensure business continuity objectives are met. Database Performance Tuning Analyze and optimize SQL queries, indexes, stored procedures, and execution plans. Troubleshoot blocking, deadlocks, CPU bottlenecks, memory issues, and I/O performance. Monitor SQL Server performance using Dynamic Management Views (DMVs), Extended Events, SQL Profiler, and Performance Monitor. Implement indexing strategies and database maintenance plans for optimal performance. SQL Server Business Intelligence Develop, deploy, and maintain SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports. Design and manage SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages for ETL processes. Support SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) cubes, tabular models, and analytical solutions. Troubleshoot failures in ETL jobs, reporting services, and analytical processing. Backup, Recovery & Maintenance Design and implement backup strategies for critical databases. Perform database restores for recovery testing and production support. Configure maintenance plans for backups, index rebuilds, integrity checks, and statistics updates. Ensure database integrity through regular DBCC checks. Monitoring & Automation Monitor SQL Server health, availability, and performance proactively. Configure alerts, notifications, and automated maintenance jobs. Develop PowerShell and T-SQL scripts for database automation and administration. Maintain documentation for database architecture, operational procedures, and DR processes. Incident & Change Management Troubleshoot production database issues and perform root cause analysis (RCA). Support critical incidents while meeting SLA requirements. Implement database changes through ITIL-based Change Management processes.
