Job Description Server Administrator – Senior Engineer Job Title: Server Administrator - Senior Engineer Location: Cyber Park, Electronic City Phase 1, Bangalore Experience: Minimum 8 - 10 years in Server Administration and Remote Infrastructure Management, including at least 2 years leading or mentoring a technical team Role Summary We are seeking an experienced Server Administrator to own our Windows server environment, virtualization estate, and disaster recovery posture, while leading a team of Server Administrators. This role combines hands-on technical ownership of complex incidents, problem management, and upgrade/migration programs with day-to-day leadership of the server support team, ensuring SLA compliance, process discipline, and team development. Key Responsibilities Server Administration & Technical Leadership Own and administer Windows Server environments (2008, 2012, 2016, 2019) across the estate. Should have hands-on VMware troubleshooting and configure HA, DRS, V-Motion, and Affinity Rules. Own high complexity change requests (critical/emergency), coordinating directly with clients and stakeholders. Act as SME for SRM, Clusters, Datastores, and Disaster Recovery solutions. Chair incident review bridges, drive detailed root cause analyses, and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Own migration and upgrade projects end-to-end, ensuring accurate documentation and change compliance. Champion scripting and automation initiatives to reduce repetitive manual effort across the team. Own SLA compliance and reporting for the server administration function. Administer MECM (Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager) for patching, packaging, and software deployment across the server estate. Configure and manage VGPU allocation within the virtualization environment to support GPU-accelerated workloads. Security, Vulnerability Management & SOC Coordination Own the vulnerability management lifecycle for servers, including scanning, risk assessment, remediation tracking, and patch compliance. Monitor SOC alerts and dashboards and lead analysis and triage of security events relevant to the server environment. Partner with the cybersecurity team to enforce hardening standards, access controls, and compliance requirements. Coordinate remediation timelines with server owners and stakeholders for identified vulnerabilities and security findings. Team & Process Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Server Administrators, including workload allocation and performance reviews. Plan and manage the on-call rotation and weekend change schedule for the team. Represent the server team in incident, change, and problem management meetings. Drive ITIL process adoption and continuous improvement across the team. Serve as the primary escalation point for stakeholders and clients on server-related issues. Required Skills & Experience Strong troubleshooting skills on VMware, HA/DRS, V-Motion, Affinity Rules. Deep understanding of SRM, Clusters, Datastores, DR solutions. Proven experience handling high-impact incidents, root cause analysis, and large-scale migrations/upgrades. Experience leading, mentoring, or supervising a technical team. Working knowledge of scripting and automation (e.g. PowerShell). Solid grounding in the ITIL framework. Hands-on experience with MECM for patch and software deployment management. Practical experience with vulnerability management tools and remediation processes. Exposure to SOC monitoring, alert triage, and security incident analysis. Sound understanding of cybersecurity principles and server hardening practices. Familiarity with VGPU configuration and management in virtualized environments. Preferred Skills VMware VCP or Microsoft Hyper-V certification. ITIL certification. Prior formal people-management or team-lead training.
