Application Engineer

As a Director of Engineering for Aladdin's Next Generation Security Master platform located in Gurgaon, India, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and scaling the infrastructure, services, and APIs of the platform. Your responsibilities will include leading a team, collaborating with various stakeholders, and ensuring the successful development and implementation of the platform. Key Responsibilities: - Lead a team to design, build, and scale infrastructure, services, and APIs for the Next Generation Security Master platform - Collaborate with product managers, program managers, trading desks, data integrity teams, and external clients - Utilize 'agile' software development methodologies to drive roadmap planning and sprint execution - Demonstrate technical leadership, strategic insight, and a deep understanding of financial instruments - Deliver scalable and resilient software systems in regulated environments - Mentor and educate engineering and operational teams on technical architecture - Build scalable, testable web applications with a focus on repeatability and code quality - Communicate effectively with clients and senior stakeholders - Contribute to the development of technical design and documentation standards - Stay updated on modern data platforms, cloud-native infrastructure, and open-source technology stack - Ensure adherence to technology selection frameworks and best practices - Utilize Project Management methodologies such as Agile/Scrum - Implement microservices and APIs using REST, Kafka, or gRPC - Possess expertise in Java, Python, C++, Golang, Spring, Hibernate, Maven, JUnit, etc. - Work with relational databases and NoSQL technologies for distributed applications - Design message-oriented middleware architecture - Use monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana Qualifications Required: - BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience - 10+ years of experience with Java, Python, C++, Golang, and other platforms - Experience in building scalable, distributed systems in enterprise environments - Strong analytical and software architecture design skills - Familiarity with NOSQL data stores and coordination services like Zookeeper - Knowledge of microservices and API development - Understanding of object-oriented programming principles - Excellent communication skills and experience working directly with clients - Proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologies About BlackRock: BlackRock is dedicated to helping more people experience financial well-being by providing investment opportunities that support global economic growth.
