About the role
As a member of the Silicon Software team at Google, you will play a crucial role in developing custom silicon solutions that will drive the future of Google's direct-to-consumer products. Your contributions will be instrumental in shaping innovative products that are beloved by millions globally, focusing on delivering exceptional performance, efficiency, and integration. The team's primary objective is to work on software development for various custom silicon projects within Google, including IP for diverse applications, with a forward-thinking approach to enable cutting-edge features. Responsibilities: - Collaborate with stakeholders to identify the characteristics of user experiences and how they can be integrated into hardware and software. - Design architecture and software interfaces to facilitate application developers' utilization of hardware accelerators and other IP. - Gain insights into interactions among hardware components, pinpoint issues and bottlenecks, present alternative solutions, and drive them to resolution. - Assist in the design or enhancement of hardware across generations by leveraging insights from productization efforts to minimize technical debt. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience. - 3 years of experience in software development focusing on consumer electronics or other embedded systems. - 2 years of experience in driving ASIC architecture, OS kernel, SoC architecture, power, and performance analysis. Preferred Qualifications: - Master's degree or PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience. - 5 years of experience in software design and development for software layers in SoC (e.g., bootloaders, kernel, hypervisor, secure monitor, device drivers, and embedded firmware). - Experience with Android and Real-time OS. - Knowledge of interaction types between hardware and software for various standard hardware blocks, CPUs, and accelerators.
