Staff Software Engineer

As a Staff Software Engineer at Megamind, Geo Moderation Service, your role will involve developing next-generation technologies that impact how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and each other. The Geo team focuses on building accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps through various Google products like Maps, Earth, Street View, and Google Maps Platform. You will have the opportunity to work on critical projects essential to Google's needs, with the flexibility to switch teams and projects as the business evolves. Responsibilities: - Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects. - Build scalable infrastructure to maintain trust for User-Generated Content (UGC) across all Geo products. - Influence and coach a distributed team of engineers. - Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines. - Define and execute the technical strategy. - Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. - Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large-scale software solutions. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. - 8 years of experience programming in C++. - 5 years of experience testing and launching software products. - 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, networks, or compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture. - 3 years of experience with software design and architecture. Preferred Qualifications: - Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. - 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms. - 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction. - 3 years of experience working in a structured organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects. - Experience in infrastructure design and platform-as-a-service (PaaS).
