Job Summary: RF Engineer (Level 3) – Boulder, CO
[About the Role] Join a leading-edge team in Boulder, Colorado as a Level 3 RF Engineer, supporting the design, integration, and testing of complex RF systems for ground-based and space-related programs. This contract, onsite position offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical communications and sensor projects with lasting industry impact. [Responsibilities]
- Design, develop, and sustain advanced RF systems and subsystems for communications and sensor applications
- Analyze and troubleshoot RF signal flow, optimizing performance and system reliability
- Integrate and support RF ground systems and communications infrastructure
- Perform RF testing, validation, and system performance characterization using industry-standard tools
- Work with RF hardware components, including upconverters/downconverters, modems, waveguides, LNAs, HPAs, and antenna subsystems
- Evaluate and interpret key RF metrics such as G/T, dBm, and antenna measurements
- Collaborate in multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure robust, end-to-end RF solutions
- Participate in design reviews, requirements development, and system verification
[Required Skills and Experience]
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or related field
- 3–7 years of direct experience with RF systems or equipment
- Proficient in RF signal chain design, integration, and troubleshooting
- Skilled in using RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers)
- Familiarity with Ku-band and S-band RF systems
- Strong understanding of RF propagation, link budgets, and system-level performance
- Ability to interpret and analyze RF measurements (G/T, dBm, antenna patterns)
- Eligible to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret clearance
[Preferred Skills]
- Experience with space, satellite, or ground station RF systems
- Knowledge of antenna design, waveguide systems, and high-frequency transmission
- Proficiency with RF system modeling or simulation tools
