About the role
Overview Build the Future! McGraw Hill is a global education innovation company offering solutions from textbooks to EdTech platforms that improve learning outcomes. As we continue to strengthen our Data & Analytics capabilities, we are hiring two Data Engineer IICS/ Informatica, Databricks who will play a critical role in enhancing our business intelligence and data services ecosystem based remotely in India. This role will support financial, product, customer, user, and third-party data initiatives while ensuring our data platform operates with efficiency, reliability, and scalability. How are you creating an impact As a Data Engineer, you will design, build, and optimize modern data solutions that power actionable insights across the organization. You will work closely with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions, enabling data-driven decision-making across the education domain. You will also play a key role in monitoring and improving the performance of our cloud-based data platforms, ensuring robust, reliable, and high-performing analytics environments. What will you be doing Design and develop scalable data engineering solutions using AWS and/or Oracle technologiesBuild and optimize ETL pipelines using tools such as Informatica/IICS, Databricks, and cloud-native servicesDevelop parallel processing ETL frameworks for optimal resource utilization and faster data processingWork extensively with financial and operational data (Oracle ERP, Oracle DB) and implement strong data modeling practices including SCD, fact/dimension, and star schema designsArchitect modern cloud-based data platforms leveraging OCI, AWS, and other cloud technologiesTranslate business requirements into technical designs and deliver high-quality end-to-end solutionsCreate UNIX shell scripts to support Informatica workflows and perform housekeeping tasksEnsure platform stability by meeting daily runbook SLAs and maintaining solution efficiencyCollaborate within Agile/Kanban environments using tools such as GIT and JiraCreate detailed solution design documentation and provide technical guidance across the SDLC We are looking for someone having: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience3+ years of experience in Data EngineeringStrong expertise in data warehousing and modern data lake architecturesHands-on experience with Informatica/IICS, Oracle DB, Oracle packages, Databricks, and AWS services (Athena with Iceberg, Lambda, EMR, Glue)Advanced proficiency in SQL queriesExperience with scripting languages such as Python, Scala, Java, or Node.js1+ years of Unix shell scripting experience3+ years of experience working with cloud platforms such as OCI, AWS, or Azure for data technologiesStrong understanding of data modelling concepts and integration design Why work with us There has never been a better time to join McGraw Hill.
