Senior Hydrology Expert

Role Overview The Senior Hydrology Expert will lead hydrological assessments and support the planning and design of water resources and infrastructure projects. The role focuses on advanced analysis, modeling, and technical delivery, with moderate team guidance responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Conduct hydrological and hydraulic studies for projects such as highways, bridges, urban drainage systems, and river engineering Perform rainfall-runoff modeling, watershed analysis, and flood estimation Develop and calibrate models using tools such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, or MIKE suite Support floodplain mapping, stormwater design, and drainage planning Analyze rainfall, streamflow, and other hydrometeorological data Ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., BIS, IRC, MoRTH, World Bank/ADB guidelines where applicable) Prepare technical reports, design calculations, and documentation Coordinate with civil, environmental, and GIS teams Assist in proposal preparation and technical submissions Provide guidance to junior engineers and modelers Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, or related field 6-9 years of relevant experience in hydrology/water resources engineering Hands-on experience with hydrological/hydraulic modeling software (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, MIKE, etc.) Experience working on infrastructure or environmental projects Strong understanding of drainage design and flood analysis Key Skills & Competencies Strong analytical and modeling capabilities Solid understanding of watershed hydrology and hydraulic systems Good technical report writing skills Effective communication and coordination Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail Preferred Qualifications Experience in highway, urban infrastructure, or river basin projects Familiarity with GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) Exposure to climate resilience or flood risk projects Experience with government or externally funded projects (World Bank, ADB, etc.)
