About the role
Role Purpose Provide L2 operational support across Oracle with secondary SQL Server support. The role supports incident resolution, monitoring, backup/recovery, patching, operational health checks, migration/deployment support and escalation to SMEs/L3 where required. Engagement Context Engagement Context: Database Platform Support is a managed L1/L2 operations engagement supporting SQL Server, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL and Oracle. The support model is 24x7 including weekends and focuses on monitoring, incident triage, operational tasks, backup monitoring, change support, vulnerability remediation support, SOP/playbook execution and timely escalation to L3/Engineering for non-SOP or design-level work. Mandatory Skills 2-7 years Oracle DBA or Oracle production support experience Working SQL Server operational knowledge Backup/recovery experience, preferably RMAN for Oracle Incident and problem management experience Monitoring, alert handling and health-check execution Willingness to work in 24x7 support model Good-to-Have Skills Data Guard/RAC exposure SQL Server maintenance/job troubleshooting Shell/Python scripting Experience in SOX/HIPAA evidence collection Key Responsibilities Oracle Operations Support Oracle incidents, monitoring and routine administration Validate backups and support approved restore/recovery tasks Review Oracle logs, jobs, availability and capacity alerts Support patching and vulnerability remediation activities SQL Secondary Support Assist SQL Server L2 team with incident triage and operational tasks Support SQL job monitoring and basic database health checks Escalate complex SQL issues to SQL SME or L3 Engineering Incident & Change Support Own ticket updates and worklogs Participate in incident bridges and handoffs Execute approved change and deployment tasks Support RCA documentation for recurring incidents Knowledge Management Update SOPs, playbooks and support documentation Capture knowledge gaps and improvement opportunities Support onboarding and KT activities Provide inputs for governance reporting Scope Boundary / Important Positioning for TA This role is scoped to L1/L2 operations and should not be positioned as platform ownership, architecture ownership or product-code remediation. Non-SOP engineering changes, architecture design, topology changes, query rewrites or index strategy ownership should be escalated to the appropriate Engineering/L3 teams. Candidates should be comfortable working in a 24x7 SLA-driven production support environment with strong ticket hygiene and communication discipline. Experience with Jira/ITSM tools, monitoring tools, alert response, incident bridges and shift handovers is important for all roles.
