Technical Business Analyst (with Underwriting Experience) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Technical Business Analyst with a strong background in Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance underwriting. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between business stakeholders, underwriters, and technical teams to define, document, and implement technology solutions that improve underwriting processes, policy administration, and risk management. Key Responsibilities Requirement Gathering & Analysis Collaborate with underwriters, product managers, and business stakeholders to capture detailed business requirements. Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications, user stories, and process flows. Conduct gap analysis and impact assessments for underwriting and policy administration systems. Underwriting & Insurance Domain Expertise Apply knowledge of P&C insurance products (Commercial, Personal Lines, Specialty) to support underwriting workflows. Analyze and optimize risk assessment, rating, quoting, and binding processes. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and underwriting guidelines. Technology & System Support Partner with development, QA, and architecture teams to design and deliver solutions. Support Policy Administration Systems (PAS), Rating Engines, Document Generation, and Claims systems integrations. Perform data mapping and analysis for migrations, transformations, and reporting needs. Stakeholder Engagement Act as the liaison between business and IT to ensure mutual understanding of needs and deliverables. Facilitate workshops, JAD sessions, and UAT with underwriting and operations teams. Provide training and documentation for new system features or process enhancements. Testing & Validation Define and execute test cases and scenarios for underwriting workflows. Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect management, and production validation. Required Skills & Qualifications Experience: 6+ years as a Business Analyst in the P&C Insurance industry, with at least 2+ years directly supporting underwriting processes. Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of underwriting, rating, policy lifecycle (new business, renewal, endorsements, cancellations), and insurance operations. Technical Skills: Familiarity with Policy Administration Systems (Guidewire, Duck Creek, Majesco, or similar). Experience with SQL, data analysis, API integrations, and system workflows. Proficiency with Agile tools (JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps). Soft Skills: Strong communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and documentation skills. Education: Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, IT, or related field.
