Overview The MSSQL/DBA position is crucial for maintaining the integrity, performance, and security of database systems within the organization. As a Database Administrator (DBA), you will be responsible for managing SQL Server databases and ensuring their availability to meet business requirements. This role not only involves the routine maintenance and optimization of databases but also includes efforts toward disaster recovery and data protection, which are essential for the organization's operations. You will collaborate with development teams to support application integration and utilization of databases while also implementing best practices in data management and governance. Your expertise will enhance the overall efficiency and reliability of the database infrastructure, directly impacting project outcomes and business success. The DBA will be instrumental in troubleshooting issues and designing databases that align with the organization's strategic goals, making this role vital in fostering a data-driven culture within the company. Key Responsibilities Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances. Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies. Oversee database backup and recovery processes. Implement and manage data security measures. Assist in database design and data modeling activities. Configure and manage replication for database redundancy. Develop and test disaster recovery plans. Create and manage SQL Server Agent jobs for automation. Collaborate with development teams for database integration. Perform troubleshooting of database issues and performance bottlenecks. Generate reports on database health and performance metrics. Ensure compliance with data governance and retention policies. Manage database users and permissions effectively. Stay up-to-date with the latest SQL Server technologies and trends. Document database configurations, processes, and procedures. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field. 5+ years of experience as an MSSQL DBA. Strong knowledge of Transact-SQL (T-SQL). Experience with SQL Server 2016 and newer versions. Proven expertise in database backup, recovery, and security. Familiarity with performance tuning and optimization techniques. Hands-on experience with high availability solutions. Proficient in using monitoring and performance analysis tools. Knowledge of ETL processes and tools is a plus. Certifications in SQL Server (e.g., MCSA, MCSE) preferred. Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Strong communication and documentation skills. Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) is beneficial. Understanding of cloud database services is preferred.
