Overview The Windows Administrator/VMware role is pivotal in managing and supporting an organization's Windows server and virtual infrastructure. This position is crucial to ensure the availability, performance, and security of Windows environments and VMware virtualization solutions. As a Windows Admin/VMware specialist, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining server systems, overseeing virtual environments, and ensuring optimal operational efficiency. Your expertise will directly impact the organization's ability to deliver seamless IT services and support various business operations. You will work closely with other IT teams to streamline processes, troubleshoot issues, and develop strategies for system improvements. A profound understanding of server administration, virtualization technologies, and best practices in security are essential in this role to protect vital business data and support continued growth. Key Responsibilities Administer Windows server environments and VMware infrastructure. Install, configure, and maintain Windows servers and applications. Monitor server performance, conduct regular maintenance, and implement system upgrades. Implement and manage virtual machines using VMware technologies. Troubleshoot hardware and software issues effectively and promptly. Ensure regular backups and disaster recovery plans are in place and functional. Manage user accounts and permissions within Active Directory. Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation processes. Configure and manage network settings and ensure connectivity. Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning for server and virtual environments. Maintain documentation of system configurations, processes, and operational procedures. Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices. Respond to and resolve incidents or service requests in a timely manner. Collaborate with other IT teams to support organizational projects and initiatives. Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in virtualization and IT infrastructure. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years experience in Windows server administration. Hands-on experience with VMware solutions and virtualization technologies. Strong knowledge of Active Directory and user management. Proficient in PowerShell scripting and automation techniques. Understanding of network configurations and protocols. Experience in implementing backup and disaster recovery solutions. Knowledge of security best practices for IT infrastructure. Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware and software issues. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Industry certifications (e.g., MCSE, VCP) are preferred. Experience with monitoring and performance management tools. Familiarity with ITIL processes and service management principles. Willingness to participate in on-call support as needed.
