Overview: The WebKit Build and Release Engineer plays a pivotal role within the organization by managing the build and release processes for the WebKit rendering engine. This position is critical for maintaining the quality and reliability of releases, ensuring that continuous integration and delivery practices are upheld effectively. A successful WebKit Build and Release Engineer will have a strong understanding of software engineering principles and will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to provide build infrastructure, support environment configurations, and troubleshoot build issues. They will be instrumental in improving build efficiency and deployment processes, thereby contributing to the organization’s ability to deliver high-performance web content solutions. Their expertise will ensure that WebKit remains optimal and meets the evolving demands of modern web applications. Key Responsibilities: Design and maintain build systems for the WebKit rendering engine. Deploy and configure continuous integration tools and workflows. Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve build issues promptly. Collaborate with development teams to streamline build and release processes. Implement build optimization techniques to enhance performance. Maintain accurate documentation of build processes and systems. Ensure version control systems are correctly utilized during builds. Execute software testing and validation for build releases. Develop and maintain automated build scripts. Oversee the scheduled maintenance of build environments. Provide technical support to users regarding build-related inquiries. Implement security best practices in build and release processes. Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to standards. Analyze and report on build performance metrics. Stay updated with the latest trends in build engineering and DevOps practices. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. 3+ years of experience in software build and release engineering. Proficiency in C++ programming and build tools. Experience with version control systems such as Git. Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools. Strong knowledge of continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD) practices. Proficient in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or Perl. Experience with debugging tools and techniques. Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC). Exceptional communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities. Knowledge of software testing methodologies. Experience in working with cross-functional teams. Passion for learning new technologies and optimizing processes.
