QA Engineer

Job Title & Overview: We are seeking a QA Engineer (Mid-Senior) with 5+ years of experience to own quality across web and API platforms. In this role, you will design test strategies, build scalable automation, and partner with Engineering and Product to ensure every release meets reliability, performance, and security expectations. Location & Work Mode: This is a Remote position. You will collaborate with a distributed product engineering team across multiple time zones using modern async-first workflows. Key Responsibilities: Define and evolve QA strategy, test plans, and release sign-off criteria for web, backend services, and integrations. Build and maintain automated test suites (UI and API) integrated into CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, reliable releases. Create comprehensive test cases for functional, regression, smoke, and exploratory testing; ensure traceability to requirements. Implement API testing and contract testing; validate REST/JSON payloads, status codes, pagination, auth, and error handling. Execute and guide non-functional testing including performance, reliability, and basic security validation (OWASP-focused checks). Own defect lifecycle: triage, root cause analysis with developers, reproducible bug reports, and verification of fixes. Monitor quality metrics (defect leakage, flakiness, test coverage) and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Mentor junior QA members and promote best practices for test automation, code review, and quality gates. Required Skills & Experience: 5+ years in QA engineering with strong experience in both manual and automation testing. UI automation with Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, or Cypress; ability to design maintainable test frameworks. API testing experience using Postman/Newman, REST Assured, or similar tools; understanding of REST principles. Hands-on with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps. Strong understanding of SDLC/STLC, Agile/Scrum practices, test design techniques, and defect management. Proficiency in at least one scripting/programming language (Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or C#). Experience with test management and tracking tools (Jira, Xray/Zephyr, TestRail) and creating dashboards/metrics. Solid grasp of SQL for validating data integrity and troubleshooting. Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field preferred. Certifications such as ISTQB (Foundation/Advanced) , Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) , or relevant cloud/testing certifications are a plus.
