Software QA Engineer (Manual + Automation)

Job Title: Software QA Engineer (Manual + Automation) — Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Software QA Engineer with ~4 years of experience to help ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of web and API-based products. You will work closely with developers, product managers, and DevOps to define test strategy, build and maintain test suites, and drive defect prevention through strong QA practices. Location & Work Mode This role is based in Bengaluru, Karnataka with a Hybrid work model (2–3 days onsite, remaining days remote). Candidates should be able to collaborate across IST working hours and participate in sprint ceremonies. Key Responsibilities Create and execute test plans, test cases, and test suites for web applications, mobile-responsive UIs, and REST APIs. Perform functional, regression, smoke, sanity, exploratory, and end-to-end testing across multiple environments (QA/UAT/Prod validation). Design and maintain automation tests using Selenium (UI) and API automation frameworks (e.g., REST Assured / Postman collections) with CI execution. Log, track, and manage defects in JIRA, ensuring high-quality bug reports with clear repro steps, severity/priority, logs, and screenshots. Validate backend integrations via API testing, JSON payload validation, schema checks, and database verification (SQL queries). Collaborate with engineering to implement quality gates, define acceptance criteria, and improve testability and coverage. Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies (planning, grooming, daily standups, retrospectives) and provide QA estimates and risk assessments. Contribute to non-functional testing such as basic performance checks (JMeter), cross-browser compatibility, and accessibility checks as needed. Required Skills & Experience 4+ years of hands-on experience in software testing (manual + automation) in Agile environments. Strong knowledge of SDLC/STLC, test design techniques, and defect lifecycle. UI automation using Selenium WebDriver with Java or Python ; experience with TestNG/JUnit/PyTest. API testing experience using Postman and/or REST Assured ; understanding of REST principles and HTTP methods. Working knowledge of SQL for data validation and troubleshooting. Hands-on with JIRA (bug tracking) and Test management tools (e.g., Zephyr, TestRail) is preferred. CI/CD familiarity (e.g., Jenkins/GitHub Actions) and version control with Git. Education & Certifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field. Preferred certifications: ISTQB Foundation Level (CTFL) , Certified Agile Tester (or equivalent). Salary Range Approximate range for Bengaluru (4 years): INR 8,00,000 – 14,00,000 per annum (depending on skills in automation, API testing depth, and CI/CD experience).
