Job Title: QA Tester (Remote) — 4+ Years Experience
Role Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented QA Tester to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of web and API-based applications. In this role, you will partner with Product, Engineering, and DevOps to define test strategies, execute manual and automated testing, and continuously improve quality practices across the SDLC.
Location & Work Mode: Fully Remote. Candidates may be located anywhere within approved time zones; collaboration will occur primarily via Slack/Teams and Jira with overlap hours for agile ceremonies.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Create and maintain test plans, test cases, and test suites aligned to product requirements and user stories.
-
Execute functional, regression, smoke, and exploratory testing across browsers and devices.
-
Design, implement, and maintain automated test scripts for UI and API testing; integrate runs into CI pipelines.
-
Perform API validation using tools/frameworks (e.g., Postman, REST-assured) and verify contracts, status codes, and payload schemas.
-
Log, track, and triage defects in Jira; reproduce issues, provide clear steps, and validate fixes through retesting.
-
Collaborate with developers on root-cause analysis and improve testability through better logging, feature flags, and observability.
-
Validate non-functional requirements including performance baselines, accessibility basics, and security hygiene checks (as applicable).
-
Contribute to quality metrics and reporting (pass/fail trends, flaky tests, defect leakage) and recommend process improvements. Required Skills & Experience:
-
4+ years of hands-on QA experience in agile teams, including strong manual testing fundamentals.
-
Experience with test automation using one or more: Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, Cypress.
-
Programming/scripting ability in at least one language: Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or C#.
-
API testing experience (REST) with Postman and/or automated API frameworks (REST-assured, SuperTest, pytest).
-
CI/CD familiarity (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps) and version control with Git.
-
Solid understanding of SDLC/STLC, defect lifecycle, test design techniques, and risk-based testing.
-
Experience with Jira and test management tools (TestRail, Zephyr, Xray) or equivalent.
-
Basic SQL skills for data validation (joins, filters) and understanding of relational databases. Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Certifications are a plus such as ISTQB (Foundation/Advanced), Certified Agile Tester (CAT), or cloud fundamentals (AWS/Azure) depending on project needs.
Additional Information: You will work in a collaborative, quality-first culture with strong engineering partnerships, regular feedback, and opportunities to grow into SDET, QA Lead, or Quality Engineering roles. Benefits typically include remote-work stipend, flexible PTO, health coverage options (where applicable), learning budget, and modern tooling for distributed teams.
Salary Range: For a remote mid-level QA Tester (4 years), the expected range is approximately USD 75,000–95,000/year, depending on location, skills in automation, and domain complexity.
