About the role

As a motivated L1 Network Engineer joining the IT Infrastructure team, your primary responsibility will be to provide first-level support for network-related incidents, monitor network performance, and assist in troubleshooting issues to ensure smooth network operations. You should have a strong foundation in networking concepts and the ability to escalate complex issues to higher-level engineers. - Monitor and manage network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, etc. using NMS/monitoring tools. - Provide first-level troubleshooting for network incidents, connectivity issues, and outages. - Log and track tickets via ITSM/ServiceNow or other ticketing tools. - Support day-to-day network operations including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN. - Perform basic configuration and health checks of network devices under guidance. - Escalate unresolved issues to L2/L3 Network Engineers with proper documentation. - Assist in patching, cabling, and hardware replacement in data centers or office environments. - Ensure compliance with IT policies and maintain accurate documentation of network changes and incidents. In terms of skills and knowledge, you should have: - Good understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Subnetting, Routing & Switching basics. - Familiarity with network hardware such as Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, HP switches, routers, and firewalls. - Knowledge of VPNs, Wireless networks, and basic firewall rules. - Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios, etc. - Exposure to ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Remedy, Jira Service Desk, etc. - Strong problem-solving and communication skills. - Ability to work in 24/7 shift-based operations if required.
