About the role
As a Database Administrator (DBA) in our company, you will play a crucial role in managing, securing, and optimizing the databases utilized in the EMS factory environment. This includes overseeing production systems like MES, SFIS, SFCS, ERP, shop-floor applications, and corporate databases to ensure database availability, performance, backup integrity, and data security. Key Responsibilities: - Install, configure, and maintain oracle databases (MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL). - Monitor database performance, optimize queries, indexes, and resource usage. - Manage database security, roles, permissions, and encryption. Production System Support: - Support factory-critical systems: MES, SFIS, SFCS, WMS, Manufacturing ERP. - Ensure minimum downtime during production hours. - Troubleshoot database issues impacting production lines. Backup, Recovery & DR: - Create, manage, and validate automated backup jobs. - Perform routine restore testing to ensure data recoverability. - Support disaster recovery planning and execution. Data Integrity & Security: - Ensure data consistency, integrity, and compliance with company policies. - Implement database hardening and apply security patches. - Coordinate with InfoSec to meet audit/compliance requirements (ISO 27001, OEM audits). Monitoring & Reporting: - Configure monitoring tools for performance, space, and alerts. - Generate database health reports, performance metrics, and usage statistics. - Maintain documentation of database schemas and configurations. High Availability & Performance: - Manage database clustering, replication, log-shipping, Always-On, or mirroring. - Optimize slow-running queries and stored procedures. - Implement capacity planning for storage and compute. Development & Deployment Support: - Support developers with SQL queries, schema changes, and performance tuning. - Review DB changes before deployment. - Maintain version control for DB scripts. Maintenance & Upgrades: - Apply patches, service packs, upgrades, and migrations. - Plan change activities during non-production hours. - Maintain database lifecycle documentation. Qualifications Required: - Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. - 38 years of DBA experience with strong knowledge of MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL. - Expertise in SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies. - Knowledge of High Availability concepts such as clustering, replication, Always-On. - Hands-on experience with backup, restore, and disaster recovery. - Experience supporting manufacturing/industrial systems is preferred. - Familiarity with Linux/Windows servers. - Knowledge of cloud databases such as Azure SQL or AWS RDS is a plus. - Preferred certifications: MCSA SQL, Oracle OCA/OCP, Azure Database Administrator (DP-300). Soft Skills Required: - Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities. - Good communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams. - Ability to work under pressure during production. - Proactive and detail-oriented mindset.
