Location: Oman Employment Type: Onsite Oman Full-Time Contract Experience: Minimum 7 Years Contract Duration: 24 Months Open Positions: 1 About the Role We are seeking an experienced IBM Storage, SAN & Spectrum Protect Backup Expert to design, implement, administer, and optimize enterprise storage, SAN, and backup infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing IBM Storage systems, SAN environments, and IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM) backup solutions while ensuring high availability, data protection, disaster recovery, and optimal infrastructure performance. Key Responsibilities Storage Administration Install, configure, administer, and maintain IBM Storage systems and enterprise storage infrastructure. Manage storage provisioning, allocation, expansion, and capacity planning. Monitor storage health, performance, and utilization to ensure optimal availability. Perform firmware upgrades, hardware maintenance, and storage optimization. SAN Infrastructure Design, configure, and manage Storage Area Network (SAN) environments. Administer Fibre Channel switches, zoning, LUN masking, multipathing, and storage connectivity. Troubleshoot SAN connectivity, performance, and hardware-related issues. Ensure high availability and redundancy of SAN infrastructure. Backup & Recovery Install, configure, and administer IBM Spectrum Protect (IBM Tivoli Storage Manager - TSM). Develop and maintain enterprise backup policies and schedules. Perform backup verification, restoration testing, and disaster recovery planning. Ensure successful backup operations and timely recovery of critical business data. Optimize backup performance and storage utilization. Monitoring & Operations Monitor storage, SAN, and backup infrastructure using enterprise monitoring tools. Proactively investigate incidents, alerts, and performance issues while ensuring compliance with SLA requirements. Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to improve system reliability. Provide Level 3 technical support for complex infrastructure incidents and escalations. Automation & Optimization Design and implement automation workflows to streamline storage and backup operations. Optimize storage performance through tuning, resource balancing, and capacity management. Automate routine administrative tasks using scripting and management tools. Plan and execute infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and technology refresh initiatives. Maintenance & Security Apply software updates, firmware patches, and version upgrades for storage and backup platforms. Perform preventive maintenance to ensure infrastructure stability and performance. Implement storage security best practices, encryption, and access controls. Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and industry standards. Documentation & Reporting Maintain detailed documentation including storage configurations, SAN topology, backup policies, SOPs, and operational runbooks. Document infrastructure changes in accordance with change management procedures. Prepare regular operational, performance, and management reports. Maintain accurate inventory and asset records. Collaboration Work closely with infrastructure, server, virtualization, database, and application teams to support enterprise platforms. Coordinate with vendors and OEM support for hardware maintenance and issue resolution. Participate in infrastructure projects involving storage, virtualization, and disaster recovery. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in enterprise storage and backup administration. Strong expertise in: IBM Storage Systems IBM Storage Virtualize (Preferred) IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM) Enterprise SAN Infrastructure Fibre Channel Technologies Backup & Disaster Recovery Experience managing enterprise storage environments supporting mission-critical applications. Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills. Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
