About the role
As a UI/UX Designer at Optum, a global organization focused on delivering care through technology to improve health outcomes, your primary responsibilities will include: - Translating business and product requirements into wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs using Figma - Collaborating with Business Analysts, Product Owners, and stakeholders to understand functional requirements and deliver accurate design solutions - Partnering with development teams to ensure smooth design-to-development handoff, including detailed specifications and assets - Ensuring all designs adhere to Section 508 accessibility standards, inclusive design principles, and usability best practices - Actively participating in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, stand-ups, and retrospectives - Maintaining and contributing to design systems, style guides, and UX standards for consistency across products - Conducting usability testing, heuristic evaluations, and user research to identify improvement opportunities - Iterating designs based on user feedback, analytics insights, and stakeholder inputs - Supporting BA teams in design documentation, content alignment, localization, and accessibility compliance - Optimizing designs for responsive behavior across devices (desktop, tablet, mobile) - Advocating for user-centric design thinking across the organization In terms of qualifications, you should have: - Proven experience in UI/UX design with expertise in Figma - Solid understanding of Section 508 accessibility standards, WCAG guidelines, and inclusive design practices - Experience working in Agile environments with cross-functional teams - Ability to convert complex business requirements into intuitive designs - Solid knowledge of design systems, usability principles, and responsive design - Proficiency in creating interactive prototypes and design specifications - Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills - Attention to detail and commitment to design quality and consistency Preferred qualifications include: - Certification in UX/UI Design or Accessibility - Experience with accessibility testing tools - Experience working on enterprise-level applications - Familiarity with collaboration tools and motion design - Understanding of usability testing methodologies and design thinking frameworks Optum, under UnitedHealth Group, is dedicated to helping people live healthier lives and improving the health system for all individuals.
